The aim with this projekt is to develope a magmapetrological method, based on microanalyses in minerals (including ion-probe analyses), from which it may be possible to recieve information of the composition, structure and age of different levels of the Earth crust.The hypotesis is: Mantle derived melts crystallize while they ascent through the crust.During the magma ascent, the melts may become contamined by materials derived from the crust whereupon the crystallizing material will be contamined with specific material at certain levels.The contaminants may be included into the crystallizing mineral as melt inclusions, mineral inclusions or as ions into the crystallizing lattice. -Besides common petrological methods pressure (P) anf temperature (T) estimations in minerals with complex crystallization history to recieve information from different levels of crust.
